Ashford Castle
Receivers have been appointed to the five star Ashford Castle Hotel in Cong, Co Mayo.
The luxury award-winning hotel – recognised as one of the leading hotels in Europe – is expected to continue trading as normal for the “foreseeable future”, with bookings, deposits and events honoured.
The joint receivers appointed from Ernst and Young say employment and supplies will be retained, and there is a full commitment to the scheduled Christmas programme for the hotel.
The hotel, which housed many of the stars of Hollywood film ‘The Quiet Man’ in 1951, was bought by Galway hotelier Gerry Barrett in 2008.
